From Aspiration to Profession: My Journey to Becoming a Doctor

The public lecture was successfully held on June 23, 2026, at the Chong Yuet Ming Cultural Centre of The University of Hong Kong. A total of 110 participants attended the event, creating a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere. The event was organized by the Chinese Language Enhancement Programme.
The guest speaker was our HKU alumni, Dr. CHAN Leung Kwai, Jason. He is an Honorary Consultant in Cardiology at Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital and an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at HKU.
During the lecture, Dr. Chan shared his journey to becoming a professional doctor. He explained how he integrates AI into his clinical practice and uses social media to promote public health education. He also spoke about his involvement in charitable work and his commitment to serving the community.
The lecture gave students deeper insight into a doctor’s professional responsibilities and social contributions. It also inspired them to reflect on their own career paths and plan for their future personal and professional growth.
